The management of Southside Speedway would like to announce that Gary Fox
and Chris Stefi have accepted the positions of Co-Race Directors for the 2006 race season.
The two will share responsibilities and work together to ensure that racing at Southside
will be better than ever in 2006. Their goals are to increase the car counts, ensure the
competitors are on an even playing field and most importantly offer a place where the competitors
will be treated fairly. Gary brings over 31 years of experience as an official working with NASCAR
and Southside Speedway. Chris brings over 8 years of experience as a driver in the Late Model Stock Car
division and 4 years experience as an official at Southside. Their wealth of knowledge and experience
in short track racing will certainly be an asset for the track. Track promoter Sue Clements along
with Fox and Stefi are continuing to work to complete the team of officials with more announcements to follow.
The plans for the 2006 racing season are well underway. The Late Model Sportsmen and the Modifieds
will return as the feature divisions. Also returning for 2006 will be the Grand Stocks, Legends, U-Cars, Pro-6,
and Enduros. The 2006 schedule will be announced on the Southside Speedway website in the coming
weeks.
There will be no major rule changes for the upcoming season. All divisions can build their cars and
make their plans based on the 2005 rule book. Drivers / Owners meetings will take place in January 2006
with the dates and times announced on the website. All future racing / competition related questions should
be directed to the race directors, Gary Fox and Chris Stefi. The e-mail address is
officials@southside-speedway.com.
