Why these changes....
We are allowing drivers to drive in more than one division, but not on the same night, except on nights when the late models and modifieds run.

In the past, we have had drivers move up to a different division, to find out they could not afford to compete at that level, so they have been unable to compete.

We want those drivers to return at a level they can afford. We also have drivers that have had an opportunity to get a ride for a race or two at a higher level, but have opted not to do so, because they may not be able to return to their former division.

We now encourage this to happen. We will, however, not allow a driver to race in two divisions in the same night, except for Late Models and Modifieds.

Because of the movement of drivers between classes, we have dropped the rookie of the year program in Grand Stock and Street Stock. It will remain in Late Models, Modifieds and UCAR. The UCAR division will remain a restricted division for drivers with no racing experience from any of the other divisions.

The minimum age requirements for UCAR's has been lowered to 15. All other divisions will remain at 16. We anticipate some drivers bringing cars out for other divisions and some old faces returning. We look forward to the 2008 season and wish everyone the best of luck.

LATE MODEL SPORTSMAN

-Minimum 16 years of age.

-Must have Southside Speedway track license for division and be in good standing.

-May drive in Modified Division at any time.

-May drive in Grand Stock or Street Stock Division but not in same night if in other events.

-Must have license for any division driver participates in.

-Must declare rookie of year eligibility. Cannot have raced in more than 5 LMS races in one year to qualify.

MODIFIED

-Minimum 16 years of age.

-Must have valid Southside Speedway track license for division and be in good standing.

-May drive in Late Model Sportsman Division at any time.

-May drive in Grand Stock or Street Stock Division but not in same night if in other events.

-Must declare rookie of year eligibility. Cannot have raced in more than 5 Modified races in one year to qualify.

-Must have license for any division driver participates in.

GRAND STOCK

-Minimum 16 years of age.

-Must have Southside Speedway track license for division and be in good standing.

-May drive in Late Model Sportsman, Modified Stock and Street Stock Division but not in same night if in other events.

-Must have license for any division driver participates in.

-There will be no rookie of the year status in this division.

STREET STOCK

-Minimum 16 years of age.

-Must have Southside Speedway track license for division and be in good standing.

-May drive in Late Model Sportsman, Modified Stock and Street Stock Division but not in same night if in other events.

-Must have license for any division driver participates in.

-There will be no rookie of the year status for this division.

UCAR

-Minimum 15 years of age. Must provide birth certificate.

-This is a novice class for beginners only. No prior automobile racing experience allowed.

-Track officials may require a driver to move up to another division at the end of the season once it is deemed the driver has gained the necessary experience.

-Must declare rookie of the year eligibility. Cannot have raced in more than 5 total UCAR races in one year to qualify.
